Business engagement services
University research can help solve the most complex business problems and add unparalleled expertise to an organisation.
The The Business Engagement and Knowledge Exchange team can help you create partnerships with businesses, charities and other external organisations that will have mutually beneficial results. The outcomes of these collaborations might include:
- Creating impact from your research in the real world
- Helping you to commercialise your research outputs
- Developing relationships with organisations
- Improving your professional reputation
- Developing new funding opportunities
- Giving your students opportunities for work placements and personal development
In 2015 the Faculty’s first Business Engagement Strategy was developed by the Faculty’s Assistant Associate Dean for Business Engagement, working with the Business Engagement team and following consultation with colleagues across the Faculty. It outlines a co-ordinated and strategic approach to business engagement activity across the Faculty, to support the achievement of University and Faculty strategic objectives.
The Faculty and each of its Schools will seek to actively pursue the strategic development of business engagement and ensure clear academic-led responsibility in Schools and Research Institutes. The key aims of the Strategy are to:
- Drive a step change in research-led business engagement within the Faculty of Humanities.
- Contribute to the three Goals of the Humanities 2020 Strategy.
- Embed business engagement activities into routine business across the Faculty, with a particular focus on increased engagement with commercial companies and support to a pool of engaged academics.
- Reduce barriers to engagement through reward and recognition
