Announcing MDC Excellence Awards 2021/22 Winners
This year's award winners are:

Engaging with our research
Introduced by Professor Sheena Cruickshank, professor in public engagement and biomedical science, on Vimeo, this year we are hosting an extensive programme to help our Humanities postgraduate and early career researchers reach the public through various events and activities. Starting with the inaugural Humanitas Brew event on 17 August 2019, two of our researchers, Jaime Garcia-Iglesias and Jessica Mancuso will present "HIV in the age of internet and PrEP" and “Being a lesbian in the Village”.

Humanitas Brew launch 17 August 2019
Come and join us at Humanitas Brew, a public engagement initiative to bring humanities research to the wider public.
The launch event is on Saturday 17 August 2019, 2-4pm at the Molly House in the Gay Village. There will be presentations about the timely and thought-provoking topics:
- “HIV in the age of internet and PrEP” by Jaime García-Iglesias;
- “Being a lesbian in the Village” by Jessica Mancuso.

Humanities student wins PGR image competition
Humanities student, Kristian Hoeck is judges' overall winner in the PGR image competition at the University PGR Summer Showcase 2018. Kristian's image captures a moment when Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro, professor of robotics, prepares HI5's, the robot which is made in Ishiguro's own image, hairdo.

President's Distinguished Achievement Awards 2018
Cecilia Alda Vidal from the School of Environment, Education and Development has been selected as the winner of the President's Distinguished Achievement Award in the Postgraduate Research Student of the Year 2018 category in the Faculty of Humanities. These annual awards are made in recognition of outstanding performance across the University.
Cecilia's PhD research focuses on the urban sanitation systems in Lilongwe, Malawi and seeks to understand inequalities in access to infrastructures and their impact. She has had a number of research achievements including publishing two first-authored papers, two co-authored pieces and one book chapter.

President’s Distinguished Achievement and MDC PGR Excellence Awards 2017

Dr Clancy Wilmott has been awarded President's Distinguished Achievement Award Postgraduate Research Student of the Year 2017.
Clancy has recently completed her PhD at the School of Environment, Education and Development. She has made an outstanding contribution to scholarship with her research, academic engagement activities, her role as a representative on PGR committees and in her teaching during her PhD studies at Manchester.
