If the goods are to be delivered by the supplier’s appointed carrier, but you wish to use Skynet to submit the import declaration and pay any taxes arising, contact Skynet in advance of the import to obtain a price for clearance charges and use of their deferment account to pay any import taxes.
To do this, please ensure:
The supplier is instructed to consign the goods to the University of Manchester C/o Skynetworldwide.
The normal delivery address should be given.
Also, please provide Skynet with:
- A copy of the delivery company’s house airway bill (HAWB)
- The purchase invoice for the goods, or if not purchased, a copy of the ‘commercial invoice’ (the common name given the customs information document that will travel with non-transacted goods). This should include sender and receiver details and commodity code/harmonised tariff code.
- The completed Import Notification form will also help to summarise this information.
- This should be arranged in advance of the import taking place, to ensure that Deltec are able to deal with the clearance. A purchase order will also need to be raised to Skynet to cover the taxes due to HMRC and for clearance fees. Please note, Skynet may not be able to handle the clearance, if the goods have already reached the UK and no prior arrangements have been made.
If you are not undertaking a standard import, you may need to take further advice.
