Working with items imported from outside the UK (excluding the US and China)
A licence may be required when importing controlled goods into the UK from anywhere in the world, including the European Union.
Conditions could be imposed on staff or students upon receiving controlled imports and it is important that you check with your supplier/collaborator as to whether an import licence or certificate is required before receiving the goods.
If controls do apply and a licence or certificate is required, the export control team will advise on the appropriate measures required to be put in place to enable you to receive the goods and continue with your research project. These mitigation measures provide assurance to the relevant country that the correct controls are in place as well as providing assurance to the University (and yourself) that we are complying with export legislation.
- Fill in and submit an Export Controls Compliance request (online form) to request assistance from the Regulatory Compliance Team.
