DSE Work Shadowing Programme
Work shadowing is a development opportunity for colleagues to work alongside and gain experience of the role of an individual within the DSE. Individuals will be matched to a host depending on their area/s of interest.
The DSE Work Shadowing Programme aims to break down internal barriers within the directorate and improve communication. For individuals it can:
- Help you to understand how other areas / departments within the DSE work.
- Allow you to take knowledge and skills learnt from shadowing back to your own role.
- Provide an opportunity for career development, and to ‘test out’ other possible careers in the DSE.
- Improve personal effectiveness dealing with different people.
The DSE Work Shadowing Programme will be open to all staff on any grade within the directorate. Applications will only be considered for colleagues that are on a permanent contract or a fixed term for 12 months or more.
The Work Shadowing Programme is a not a secondment opportunity. No formal backfilling arrangements will apply for the duration of the shadowing opportunity and the salary and conditions will remain the same for any individual participating in the shadowing programme.
