Joanne Clague appointed as Director of Faculty Operations

Joanne Clague has been appointed as the new Director of Faculty Operations for the Faculty with effect from 1 November 2017

Joanne will take over this position from Simon Merrywest who, as has previously been announced, will move to be the University’s Director for the Student Experience from Monday, 2 October.

Joanne is currently the Chief Operating Officer for the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC), a post she has held for two years.  A Qualified Chartered Accountant, she has significant experience of leading transformational change in the higher education and healthcare sectors.  Joanne is a member of the Health Innovation Manchester shadow senior management team – the group responsible for bringing together the Academic Health Science Centre and the Academic Health Science Network into a single Academic Health Science System for Greater Manchester.

Previously she worked as Director of Operations for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool where she had responsibility for a £185 million revenue budget and more than 750 professional support services staff.

Joanne is a Non-Executive Director of Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Chair of its Finance and Performance Committee.

Simon and Joanne will manage a transition during October and Simon will retain oversight of the Faculty PSS team during this short period.
