Director for the Student Experience

24 May 2017

Tim Westlake, Director for the Student Experience, will be leaving the University at the end of July to take up the position of Chief Operating Officer at the University of Sussex

John Owens Building

Tim joined The University of Manchester in 2005 as Director of International Development, moving into the position of Director of Student Recruitment, Admissions and International Development, before progressing into his current role in 2011 as Director for the then newly formed Directorate for the Student Experience.

During his time with the University Tim has led many transformational projects to enhance the student experience and has overseen a significant increase in international students that has made us the university with the largest number of international students in the UK.

Tim said: “It has been a privilege to work for over a decade in such a great and ambitious institution as The University of Manchester.  I am particularly proud to have worked for a University committed to social responsibility and had the opportunity to be involved in the development of our widening participation activities; the School Governors Initiative and the Equity and Merit Scholarship Programme.  I have worked with so many talented colleagues whom I shall miss enormously but I know that I will leave the Directorate in the very capable hands of an exceptional team.  I am looking forward to joining another ambitious university and supporting them in developing and delivering a new strategic plan.”
