Purple Wave in Great Manchester Run

Our colleague Daniel Taylor has described his feeling of “immense pride” – for both the University and the city of Manchester – while running with the Purple Wave in the Great Manchester Run.

The Purple Wave is the University’s section of the 10k race, which is held on Sunday, 28 May and broadcast on TV. You can join the Purple Wave for the discounted price if you sign up before Tuesday, 4 April.

Daniel has run six other 10k races and seen his fitness levels rise since he first took part last year. He said: “I absolutely loved running the 10k – the atmosphere in Manchester us amazing. It has really spurred me on.”

You can join the Purple Wave for the discounted price of £25 for staff, £20 for students, for the first 3,000 to sign up. You will get a FREE purple technical running T-shirt too! The standard entry fee is £38 so this is a significant discount.

A discounted price of £30 is also available to the first 200 alumni to sign up to run and raise money for scholarships, student support or research at the University.

There's lots of training support for everyone taking part, including running plans for you to follow and a number of running groups across campus for all levels of fitness.
