Actively Managing Your Mood

14 Sep 2017

A 5-week course for staff starting Monday, 25 September

Managing Your Mood Workshop

This course is offered by the University Counselling Service and will be held in the Wellbeing Room, First Floor, Simon Building from 1pm until 2pm.

Do you find you are losing concentration or having difficulty prioritising? Are you feeling overloaded? Are you noticing that you  feel low and/or anxious?

This five week course can help:

  • Discover how changes in behaviour, feeling, and thinking can help us to relate to ourselves and others in ways that are more constructive.
  • Learn the benefits of learning strategies for managing stress and mood fluctuations.
  • Experience the effects of mindfulness practice on your mood and as a practical way of managing stress and improving general wellbeing.

We will use also use some helpful tools from Cognitive Analytic Therapy which help us to work out new ways of thinking and acting. This course will look at how worrying about failure, avoidance of criticism and judgement, the high expectations we have of ourselves etc can lead to unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving.

If you are interested in booking a place on this workshop please email counselling.servicegroups@manchester.ac.uk.

Please note that places are limited.  We hope to run another course which will start on 30 October.
