Staff with local school pupils

Alliance Manchester Business School has a long-standing partnership with the Education and Leadership Trust and work closely with Whalley Range, Levenshulme and now The East Manchester Academy.  Whalley Range are seeking female volunteers for their Year 7 Women in the World of Work event – which some of you have been involved with in the past.

They are running the event on the 6 December 2018 and 27 March 2019 for an hour from 9.40-10.40 at Whalley Range High School.

The briefing document outlines the purpose of the event and puts your involvement into context.  Michelle Kipling, Academic Services and Accreditation Manager at Alliance MBS has personally been involved and has said how fun it was to be involved in.

“You will be sat in a classroom where you will rotate around different tables of Year 7 girls,” explains Michelle. “They will ask you questions about your career and the choices you made – they have been fully briefed before on the type of questions to ask. They are very excited and ask some very interesting questions – but nothing you can’t answer. For example, they are keen to know if you went to University; if not why not; did you get the grades you wanted; if not, what did you do. And then there are always the fun questions like ‘are you well paid’, ‘how many holidays do you get’ and ‘what car do you drive’!”

If you can find an hour in your day to help at this event please let Michelle know.  There will be other women there from across the City and other organisations.

Michelle adds: “As this is our partner School it would be great to be well represented.  It has always been very popular with the Year 7 students and has been very beneficial to them.”

If you have any questions regarding this or need to speak to Michelle then please just either email or give her a call on 0161 275 6546 .
