Sustainable Construction at The University of Manchester

16 Jan 2018

Sustainability Seminar Thursday 18 January

The next sustainability seminar will take place this Thursday lunchtime in the Beyer Lecture Theatre, 12-1.30pm. We will be discussing Sustainable Construction at the University of Manchester.

We announced our ambitious, £1 billion, 10 year investment to create a world class campus in 2012, to bring the University together onto a single campus and provide some of the world's most modern facilities for teaching and research. This large scale construction and refurbishment programme presents an opportunity to embed sustainability within the estate and increase the positive impacts we have on the environment. We also recognise the Campus Masterplan presents challenges and as such we are managing associated negative impacts.

This seminar will cover the University's approach to embedding environmental sustainability within the capital programme to date.

The second seminar will be led by Paul Maccabee (Deputy Head of Capital Projects), Kate Dougherty (WSP) and Helen Cutts (Environmental Sustainability Projects Officer).

Sustainability Seminar Series

The series seeks to present opportunities for staff and students to make these positive contributions to our local environment. The seminars will explore a range of topics with short presentations from academics, researchers, professional support staff and colleagues from across the city.

We welcome attendance from staff and students across the University who wish to learn more about sustainability including all working in professional support services and academic schools.
