Course on supporting staff with disabilities

If you are managing a member of staff with a disability or would like to know more about support for staff with disabilities, register for this session

The aim of the session is for you to: 

  • Have a solid understanding of disability equality and what it means in terms of managing and recruiting disabled staff
  • Be confident to interact with disabled employees and support them
  • Identify and address equality issues affecting disabled staff and support them effectively
  • Be able to understand the issues that disabled people encounter and the range of needs of disabled employees
  • Understand the Equality Act and your obligations as an employer
  • Appreciate the real benefit that supporting and employing disabled staff people can have on your workplace
  • Have gained knowledge of the type of support available for the disabled staff
  • Understand what reasonable adjustments can be made in the workplace to maximise the potential of disabled employees
  • Be confident about managing disabled colleagues
  • Know where to go for more detailed help or advice

The session is offered by Disability Advisory and Support Services on various dates and lasts approximately two and a half hours.
