Make a child’s Christmas wonderful this year and give generously to Wood Street Mission’s Toy and Food Appeal Christmas Project 2017.

Wood Street Mission – a registered children’s charity working to alleviate the effects of poverty on local children and their families – wants to ensure that no child goes without a new toy on Christmas Day and there’s a food hamper for every family. It will not be able to achieve this without your support.

Once again Wood Street Mission is hoping to receive gifts for the older children as well – up to the age of 18.

The van will collect donations from Goods Receiving Stores, Sackville Street Building, on Friday, 8 December 2017 so make any donations no later than:

  • Wednesday, 6 December 2017

The following donations to the Christmas Project are all welcome:

NOTE: Please do not wrap any presents.  You can, if you wish, donate sheets or rolls of wrapping paper for them to give to the families to wrap the gifts themselves.

  • Non-perishable food items
  • Tins of vegetables, meat, fish, or fruit
  • Tins or packets of soup
  • Packets of pasta or rice
  • Puddings or desserts
  • Biscuits, crackers or savoury snacks
  • Boxes of cereals
  • Tea, coffee or other hot beverages
  • Tins or jars of savoury sauces, jams and pickles
  • Chocolate treats

All food items must have an expiry date clearly printed on their packet and must be in date up to the 31 December 2017 or later.  For this reason Wood Street cannot accept homemade Christmas cakes.  Please do not split multiple packs as dates are not marked on individual items.  Wood Street volunteers will split them when making up the hampers.

If you wish to donate a gift or would like further information about what to donate, contact:

As always Wood Street Mission is incredibly grateful for your support and would like to thank you in advance for your help with their 148th Christmas Appeal.
