A day of mindfulness practice

20 Oct 2016

With Jake Dartington, a teacher from Gaia House

On Saturday, 19 November (10am–4pm) in the Wellbeing Group Room, 1st Floor, Simon Building

One of the six ways to wellbeing is"take notice". It is very helpful to connect with what is happening in our minds and how this affects our feelings, moods and stress levels. We will explore ways to respond creatively to the patterns, habits and obstacles we construct that can sometimes be unhelpful. The day will be held in silence to help us explore the practices in depth and will include guided sitting and walking meditations, a talk about the principles of mindfulness, and opportunities to ask questions. Beginners are welcome, as are people with some experience of mindfulness practice.

Jake Dartington has practised Buddhist meditation since 1995 and trained as a meditation teacher with Christina Feldman, the co-founder of Gaia House in Devon. He began to teach retreats and meditation courses in 2007. As well as teaching at Gaia House, Jake leads daylong and evening courses at various places around the country.

Cost:

  • £10 students of The University of Manchester

Our intention is to make this practice day as accessible as possible to everyone, whatever their financial means. The rate covers the cost of the venue and teacher’s travel cost. Please let us know if the rate is beyond your means, as no-one will be turned away through lack of funds.
