If you are a member of an existing society or group that would like to be advertised on the UMSA site then please contact Mike Keeley, firstname.lastname@example.org, 275 5725, the Communications and Website Co-Ordinator for UMSA.
We are happy to list any societies and groups that are open to UMSA Members, even if they are not exclusively so. Please bear in mind, the interest groups will need co-ordinating.
UMSA are more than happy to help you to set up your group, and if there are activities that you need help or funding for then we will be happy to consider applications made through Alison Turner, the Social and Memberships Secretary for UMSA.
The University of Manchester LGBT Network Group is for any member of staff who self defines as Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual or Transgender.
The group was launched on the 27th of July with a visit from Stonewall and a night out in the Gay Village. The activities of the group are varied and range from providing support to staff, organising social events and being involved politically. With a growing membership, many other activities will evolve.
The Manchester Cruising Association have asked to be drawn to the attention of University Staff. They have a lot of University Staff as members of the Asssociation and always welcome new members. You certainly don't need to own a boat to go to a meeting or join the Association.
Now in its 94th year, throughout its life it the Association has promoted sailing by organising talks and other activities and through affiliation to the RYA.

Manchester Universities Gilbert and Sullivan Society
Although not strictly a staff society, Manchester Universities' Gilbert and Sullivan Society (commonly known as MUGSS) is one of those student societies that is worthy of a mention on this page because they are a longstanding part of the University community and anyone can go watch their shows.
MUGSS are in their 56th year and offer an excellent opportunity for people with a liking for the works of Gilbert and Sullivan to see their works performed.
