Student recruitment

We look after all aspects of UG and PGT student recruitment to the Faculty.

As well as organising events, both on and off-campus, we carry out market research and input into the communication with enquirers, applicants and offer holders.

We also represent and advocate for the Faculty at University level in large recruitment and marketing activities such as open days and the annual confirmation, clearing and adjustment activities.

Contact us if you need:

Examples of our work

UK Recruitment

Delivering presentations and attending career fairs at schools and colleges across the UK.

Study healthcare: series of school visit and on-campus activities to raise awareness of the healthcare sector as a career destination and to promote UoM’s courses to drive applications.

Overseas visits

The International Recruitment team engages in multiple overseas recruitment visits per year.

We undertook 16 of these trips in 2019/20 including one to the USA in October 2019:

During this trip we visited San Francisco, LA and New York and attended numerous recruitment events including STEM Fairs in Silicon Valley, New Jersey and New York. We also visited several feeder schools in these areas.

We met with many STEM interested prospective students who were high achieving and capable of meeting our entry requirements, and also met with students who were preparing their applications to attend The University of Manchester in September 2020.

We engaged in positive discussions with California Polytechnic University about possible collaboration in 4+1 and Science Communications summer school participation.

We met with four PGT prospective students at UCLA who were engaged and interested in attending The University of Manchester.

International Summer Schools

We offer a range of four-week summer schools for undergraduate students from our international partner universities. The subject areas are Biosciences, Epidemiology, Nursing, Pharmacy and Science Communication.

The next summer schools will commence in July 2021 and applications will open in January 2021.

The courses aim to provide students with an experience of the best elements of our research, using the innovative, varied and successful teaching approaches from our undergraduate programmes.

Please contact siss@manchester.ac.uk for further information.

Unibuddy

We look after the recently launched Unibuddy platform. Unibuddy supports peer-peer communications between prospective applicants and current UoM students as well as live event functionality. Prospective students are able to ask our ambassadors about the things that matter the most to them. They are able to choose students to talk to, based on subject, level or country of origin.

If you are interested in finding out further information, or want to get involved, please contact us.
